Laura Murphy

Laura Murphy is a Senior Advisor with PCT Federal Services, LLC, a SDVOSB firm focused on providing consulting services and web-based competitive intelligence products to help clients achieve their mission.

Ms. Murphy formerly served as chief lobbyist for the national ACLU, Director of Tourism for the Mayor of Washington D.C., chief of staff to the California Assembly Speaker and legislative aide to two Members of Congress -- Rep. Shirley Chisholm (D-NY) and Rep. Parren J. Mitchell (D-MD).

Ms. Murphy is a versatile, highly-effective advocate with significant governmental and public affairs experience on the local, state and national levels. Her areas of expertise include homeland security, criminal justice reform, housing, financial services, and campaign finance reform issues. Ms. Murphy currently represents corporate clients impacted by legislation pending before Congress. She also has her own consulting firm, Laura W. Murphy, LLC.

Ms. Murphy has deep connections among Democratic and Republican lawmakers, including several committee and subcommittee chairpersons. She is known for managing controversial and high-profile legislative disputes, and for creating strategic "odd bedfellow" policy coalitions.

Ms. Murphy has testified more than a dozen times before Congress and is an experienced public spokesperson. She has been a guest on PBS Newshour with Jim Lehrer, NBC Nightly News, The Today Show, ABC World News, CNN Crossfire, Larry King Live and NPR. Roll Call named Murphy one of the 50 most influential lobbyists in 1997 and in 2003 The Hill selected her as one of the top 17 non-profit lobbyists. Both The Washington Post and The Baltimore Sun extensively chronicled her leadership and government relations skills in the aftermath of 9/11.
